Parklands Hospital Therapeutic Garden

This hugely rewarding project, funded by charitable donations and grants, turned an overgrown, disused space into a therapeutic garden for serving military personnel recovering from conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorders.  

My concept for the garden was selected by the hospital from designs submitted by final year Diploma students at Sparsholt College. 

The garden incorporates a range of sensory elements, including soft grasses, year-round scented flowers, biodiverse planting and a gently flowing rill.  The space is divided into areas for private and for more social time, with an artificial lawn for yoga and physical therapies and two decked terraces enclosed by tall, translucent planting that allow patient visibility at all times, yet give a sense of privacy.
